After 5 matchdays of EPL and 7 matchdays of La Liga, we have reached the first international break. Unfortunately we are looking at an excruciating 16 day break with La Liga the first to return on Friday 10/9. What better way to pass the time than to over-react to everyone’s performance so far this season?
All the rankings referenced below are on a per game basis and the full stats for both leagues can be found here. These rankings are across both the EPL and LALIGA and will be most relevant to managers in combined Premier League and La Liga leagues.

1. Kylian Mbappe - FW - Real Madrid - 41.9 PPG
No surprise here as best player in the world and our preseason #1 has started off hot for Real Madrid with 7 goals in 7 games. He is tied with Lamine Yamal for 2nd in Goals, and leads all players in Shots, Shots on Target (SoT), and Impact Carries (ICs). He’s done solid damage on the creation side as well as he’s top 25 in Goal Creations (GCs) and top 10 in Shot Creations (SCs). At nearly 42 PPG, he is putting up Messi-like numbers. He has 2 of the top 4 performances across either league as he destroyed Sociedad for 75 points on 8/26 and Malaga for 54.5 on 8/30. He’s been an absolute monster.
2. Lamine Yamal - FW - Barcelona - 41.0 PPG
Just behind Mbappe is Lamine Yamal with 41 PPG. He’s been dominating everyone and is Top 6 in 6 of our scoring categories - T-2nd in Goals, 2nd in Shots, T-3rd in SoT, T-3rd in GCs, 5th in SCs, and 6th in ICs. Barcelona has been on absolute fire this season and Yamal is obviously a major reason why. Similar to Mbappe, he is putting up Messi-in-his-prime type numbers. His 76.5 points against Valencia was the top performance of any player across the EPL or La Liga in the last 3 years and he’s averaging 46.3/game over his last 6. Barcelona is firing on all cylinders and hopefully can keep momentum through the 16-day international break.
3. Raphinha - FW - Barcelona - 35.9 PPG
Raphinha has been the story of the season so far. His 12 goals in 7 games is the most since Ronaldo’s 13 in 2014-15, and would be a record in the EPL. There was some real ambiguity around his role going into the season - Nobody expected Flick to deploy him as a false 9 and he has absolutely delivered. He has a hat trick in each of his last 2 games for a red hot Barcelona squad.
4. Bruno Fernandes - MF - Manchester United - 32.4 PPG
Last year’s leading total point scorer has picked up right where he left off, continuing to lead the EPL in total points, points per game, and leads both leagues in Shot Creations at over 7 per game. He’s also top 20 across both leagues in Goals, Shots, SoT, and IPs. He had a top 3 performance of the season so far with 65.5 points against Ipswich, including a hat trick. He is showing no signs of slowing down and continues to dominate the EPL.
5. Pascal Groß - MF - Brighton & Hove Albion - 27.4 PPG
Pascal Groß has been the surprise of the season as the 35 year old has led Brighton out to a roaring start. Brighton looks like they are going to be a real contender this season and Groß is in the middle of everything they do offensively. He’s top 6 in both GCs and SCs and top 15 in Goals. I’d expect him to slow down a bit as he’s already scored more goals this season than his last 2 seasons combined, but he is without question the steal of the draft so far.
6. Cole Palmer - MF - Chelsea - 26.8 PPG
Cole Palmer appears to be back to his 24/25 form after a down season (for him) last year. Despite looking like a long-lost McPoyle brother, he is Top 30 across both leagues in every single scoring category. The scariest part is he only has 2 goals on the season - if he’s able to find the net more frequently he is a lock for a top 5 season.
7. Antony - FW - Real Betis - 25.7 PPG
Nobody abuses our scoring system more than Antony. He leads both leagues in ICs and is top 3 in both Shots and SoT, is top 25 in SCs, while also having 0 Goals and not cracking the top 100 in GCs or IPs. So long story short, he creates a lot of chances for his teammates, but few have converted. He has fired off a ton of shots, and got many on target, but none have found the back of the net. He’s basically the Russell Westbrook of La Liga. Nobody has done less with more.
8. Fermín López - MF - Barcelona - 25.6 PPG
The 3rd Barcelona player in the Top 10, Fermin appears to have beaten out Dani Olmo for the CAM spot and has averaged 25.6 PPG so far this season. The 23-year-old is in the midst of a breakout season as he is top 25 in Goals, SoT, GCs, and SCs. Almost all of his production is set up by Yamal and Raphinha, which is a very good sign as they will continue to draw immense amounts of attention from every team they face. There is no sign that either he or Barcelona is slowing down any time soon.
9. João Pedro - FW - Chelsea - 24.5 PPG
The 2nd of Chelsea’s Big 3, Joao Pedro has started off strong before getting nicked up a bit. We included him here despite only playing 4 games - the EPL has only played 5 and Pedro missed the Brentford game. This ranking may be a bit high, but he’s averaging 24.5 PPG and leads both leagues in GCs. He’s the best striker in the EPL outside of Haaland and should continue to dominate with both Palmer and Rogers around him.
10. Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall - MF - Everton - 23.6 PPG
Dewsbury-Hall is certainly the 2nd biggest surprise of the season after Groß. He’s top 10 across both leagues in Shots, SCs, and ICs for an unbeaten Everton squad. He’s pretty much the only thing Everton has going for them on offense besides the occasional goal from Thierno Barry. High usage players on middle-of-the-table teams is typically a winning combo in Fantasy Futbol, and Dewsbury-Hall is the best example of that so far this season.
11. Jude Bellingham - MF - Real Madrid - 22.8 PPG
Bellingham has been pretty much doing it all for Madrid this season as he is Top 50 in nearly every scoring category. However, he hasn’t really been doing anything at a world-class level as he isn’t top 25 in any scoring category. This can definitely be attributed to some hot starts from a multitude of players and I fully expect him to finish in the Top 10 by end of season.
12. Bukayo Saka - FW - Arsenal - 22.8 PPG
Saka is back baby! He appears to be back in 24/25 form as he is averaging 22.8 PPG so far this season. The story with him has and will continue to be his health - if he can stay fit, he will be in the Top 10 conversation.
13. Matheus Cunha - FW - Manchester United - 22.1 PPG
Don’t have much to say about Cunha here as I unfortunately haven’t been able to watch any Man U games, but it appears he and their Big 3 are performing exactly as expected. He’s top 20 in both SCs and ICs but nothing else is jumping off the stats sheet. If you drafted Cunha, it’s hard to be disappointed in his 22.1 PPG so far this season.
14. Rayan Cherki - MF - Manchester City - 22.1 PPG
Cherki has been super volatile this season. In his 4 starts, he has scored 2, 13, 36.5, and 40.5 points and is averaging 22.1 PPG. There was some real ambiguity around whether he or Foden would get the CAM spot and that ambiguity is gone. It is his spot to lose. I’m not sure if the volatility can be chalked up to the team adjusting to Maresca’s tactics, but as a manager you would hope to see a bit more consistency out of him.
15. Erling Haaland - FW - Manchester City - 22.0 PPG
Haaland is off to his slowest start in 3 years and still has 5 goals in 5 games. He’s Top 5 in Goals, Shots, and SoT and completely irrelevant in everything else. He looks considerably less like an ogre with the new haircut so he has that going for him which is nice. City is at the top of the table and you would assume that as their midfield gets more reps together, it will only benefit him up front. I don’t see anything that makes me think he won’t work his way into the Top 10 over the rest of the season.
16. Sergio Camello - FW - Rayo Vallecano - 21.6 PPG
Who the hell is Sergio Camello?! Camello has been on fire for a pretty terrible Rayo Vallecano squad with 7 goals in 7 games, tied with Mbappe and Yamal for 2nd behind Raphinha. That is pretty good company to keep. He’s already scored more goals than his entire 24/25 and 25/26 and should come back down to earth shortly, but what a start for the 25-year-old Spaniard.
17. Bryan Mbeumo - FW - Manchester United - 21.6 PPG
Mbeumo has been consistently solid for Man U, sitting in the Top 10 for Shots and SCs, and Top 50 in Goals, SoT, and ICs. The Man U big 3 is picking up right where they left off last season.
18. Dominik Szoboszlai - MF - Liverpool - 21.3 PPG
Szoboszlai started off red hot with a 47 point performance in Week 1, but hasn’t cracked 20 points once in the last 4 matches. Liverpool’s schedule was not exactly a murderer’s row of opponents either as they faced Forest, Ipswich Town, Fulham, and Bournemouth. He is on pace for significantly less fewer GCs than last season as Liverpool only has 7 goals in 5 games. I’m sure this can be chalked up to getting used to a new coach, but you expect more out of a top 10 pick.
19. Morgan Rogers - MF - Chelsea - 20.8 PPG
Morgan Rogers has been without a doubt the most productive transfer across either the EPL or La Liga this season. He is top 30 across Goals, Shots, SoT, GCs, and SCs and has formed an excellent partnership with Palmer and Pedro. This is exactly the kind of impact every fantasy manager and Chelsea fan was hoping to get out of him.
20. Pedri - MF - Barcelona - 20.7 PPG
Pedri has completely met expectations this season. You know exactly what you’re going to get with him and he is incredibly consistent not only game over game, but season over season. He is good for 20 a game - no more, no less. He does all his damage via IPs and SC/GCs as he is Top 25 in all 3. He won’t win you any matchups by himself, but he won’t lose you any either.
21. Álex Baena - MF - Atlético Madrid - 20.5 PPG
Baena looks to be building on his excellent World Cup performance and, as hoped, performing much more in-line with his 24/25 output than his 25/26. He’s performed similar to Cherki where he either explodes for 35+ or is relatively quiet. Hopefully he can become more consistent while still maintaining Top 10 upside.
22. Alberto Moleiro - MF - Villarreal - 20.5 PPG
Moleiro appears to be very matchup dependent and has feasted on Villareal’s weak schedule to start the season - if he has a good matchup, he is a must-start and has the potential to go off for 40+. If he doesn’t, you probably want to look elsewhere.
23. Vinícius Júnior - FW - Real Madrid - 20.5 PPG
I’m not sure what happened in the operating room when Vini Jr got his new chin, but whatever happened, it completely killed his goal-scoring ability. Maybe his balance is off. He has 1 goal this season despite being Top 5 in total Shots. He needs to find the back of the net to justify being a Top 5 pick.
24. Arda Güler - MF - Real Madrid - 20.0 PPG
Güler has been a slightly worse version of Pedri, playing remarkably consistently and primarily doing damage via IPs, GCs, and SCs. Real Madrid is the most top heavy team in the league and nearly 60% of their fantasy points come from Mbappe, Bellingham, Vini, and Guler and all average over 20/game. Guler is playing out of position and still putting up Top 25 numbers. If (or, more accurately, when) Bellingham inevitably gets injured, look for Guler to immediately become a Top 10 player.
25. Granit Xhaka - MF - Sunderland - 19.9 PPG
Granit Xhaka is Top 2, yes Top 2, across both EPL & La Liga in both SCs and IPs. He’s a deep-lying playmaker and provides nearly 0 goal-scoring threat. Because of this he is incredibly consistent, scoring between 14 and 24.5 points in every game. He is the engine of the Sunderland offense and appears to be the lone bright-spot as Enzo Le Fee has not made the next step in his development.
26. Maxim De Cuyper - DF - Brighton & Hove Albion - 19.8 PPG
Well this is surprising. Can’t really argue with the data as he is averaging 19.8 PPG thanks to a 37 point Week 1 showing against Villa. He has historically been played as a DF, but it appears he has been deployed more forward as a MF so far this season. He is #2 in GCs, only behind Joao Pedro. We will most likely reclassify him as a MF in the Spring if this deployment keeps up - For now this is kind of like a Taysom Hill situation where you can get QB-like production in your TE slot.
27. Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang - FW - RC Deportivo La Coruña - 19.6 PPG
The 37-year-old scored 5 goals in his first 5 games for Deportivo A Coruña. Robert Lewandowski he is not, but maybe the old guy can keep this up for a full season. There’s a case to be made he is the #1 Free Agent pickup so far this season.
28. Morgan Gibbs-White - MF - Nottingham Forest - 19.6 PPG
MGW does not appear to be adjusting to the loss of Elliot Anderson as we hoped. James McAtee has done a great job filling in, but it hasn’t yet translated into production for MGW. I’m not ready to jump ship on him yet, but hopefully some more time together will improve chemistry and get him back to his old ways.
29. Ramón Terrats - MF - Getafe - 19.4 PPG
Terrats’ stat-line is like a poor-man’s Antony - lots of Shots, SoT, and SCs, with not a lot to show for it. He is pretty much their entire offense at this point and is a similar profile to Dewsbury-Hall as a high-usage player on a mid-table team. Completely under-the-radar preseason and has worked his way into being very fantasy-relevant. Should be rostered in all leagues.
30. Ante Budimir - FW - Osasuna - 19.3 PPG
As we wrote in the preseason, Budimir is an even more extreme version of Haaland - he only attacks and does zero creating or progressing. That being said, he is Top 12 in Goals, Shots, and SoT, so he’s pretty damn good at attacking. His managers should be content that they got exactly what they thought they would get.
31. Lee Kang-In - MF - Atlético Madrid - 19.1 PPG
Lee Kang-In was not on my radar at all in the preseason despite transferring in from PSG. I should have known better. He exploded for a 51 point game against Osasuna and played excellently in the derby win against Real. His impact should only increase as he gets integrated into the squad.
32. Declan Rice - MF - Arsenal - 19.0 PPG
Very disappointing start to the season offensively for Arsenal and Declan Rice. He is Top 5 in IPs and that’s about all that he has going on. Arsenal has an incredibly crowded midfield and it’s clear they haven’t quite figured out what to do with it yet. A note to anyone who drafted him - just be happy you didn’t draft Enzo or Guimaraes.
33. Josh King - MF - Fulham - 18.8 PPG
What a start to the season for Josh King. The 19-year-old was relegated to the bench last season and it is going to be impossible for Fulham to do that now. He leads them in PPG with 18.8, forming a dangerous midfield duo alongside Alex Iwobi. Unfortunately nobody has stepped up to fill Harry Wilson’s role and Fulham only has 5 goals on the season.
34. Diego Gómez - MF - Brighton & Hove Albion - 18.5 PPG
The 3rd Brighton midfielder on this list, Diego Gomez has been incredible this season and is Top 5 in GCs. However, he doesn’t crack the Top 50 in SCs which makes me think his performance is a bit skewed high. I’m not hopping on the bandwagon yet.
35. Marcus Tavernier - FW - AFC Bournemouth - 18.3 PPG
Tavernier has been solid and has somehow kept up production despite Iraola’s departure, Kroupi’s injury, and Rayan’s underwhelming start to the season. He is performing well-above average as expected.
36. Álex Grimaldo - DF - Atlético Madrid - 18.1 PPG
One of the premier transfers into La Liga, Grimaldo has exceeded expectations. He has somehow worked his way into taking penalties for Atleti, the only DF across the EPL or La Liga to take one this season. This alone makes him the most valuable DF and an auto-start each week. If you drafted him or got him off waivers, you got yourself potentially the steal of the season.
37. Nicolas Pépé - FW - Villarreal - 17.9 PPG
Same as Tavernier, Nicolas Pepe is performing right in-line with last season’s production. Managers should have no complaints, other than him being held out of the last 2 matches.
38. Mohamed Belloumi - FW - Hull City - 17.7 PPG
Welcome to the Prem Mohamed Belloumi! Belloumi has been dynamic for Hull City and has been by far the most productive player on the squad. I would expect him to fall out of the Top 50 over the next few weeks, but what a start to his EPL career for the 24-year-old Algerian.
39. Olivier Boscagli - DF - Brighton & Hove Albion - 17.7 PPG
Another surprise performer for Brighton, Boscagli is one of 3 players who are Top 15 in both SCs and IPs, joining Bruno Fernandes and Granit Xhaka. He’s finally getting first team minutes and with De Cuyper playing more forward, appears to have locked down the starting LB spot. He definitely deserves to be rostered.
40. Keane Lewis-Potter - DF - Brentford - 17.3 PPG
Keane Lewis-Potter is another DF in the EPL off to a strong start. He’s averaged less than 10 PPG over the past 2 years and is currently averaging 17.3. Not much has changed in how he’s being deployed, so I would expect he comes down to earth a bit after the international break.
41. James McAtee - MF - Nottingham Forest - 17.2 PPG
Elliot Anderson’s replacement at Forest has exceeded expectations through 5 games. He’s 3rd across both leagues in SCs, but has 0 GCs so far. Forest only has 4 goals this season and had a rough start to the season - when they start converting, it will be McAtee & MGW who are making it happen.
42. Kevin Schade - FW - Brentford - 17.0 PPG
Schade has been the primary attacking force for a Brentford team tied for 3rd in the EPL in goals scored. He is top 30 in Goals, Shots, and SoT. Their schedule has been pretty soft - expect him to get back to his normal 10-11 PPG after the break.
43. Pape Gueye - MF - Villarreal - 16.9 PPG
Gueye already has 3 goals this season - he had 4 in 24/25 and 5 last year. If he can keep up this goal-scoring pace he will continue to be firmly in the Top 50. If it slows down, he will be out. Outside goals, he is in the Top 30 in IPs but not in the Top 100 for anything else.
44. Iñigo Vicente - FW - Racing Santander - 16.9 PPG
Vicente was completely off our radar going into the season as a member of newly-promoted Racing Santander. He is Top 10 in IPs and Top 50 in SCs and GCs. This gives him a fairly solid floor and if he is able to start finding the back of the net (no goals this season), he should be able to stay fantasy-relevant throughout the season.
45. Alex Scott - MF - AFC Bournemouth - 16.8 PPG
Scott appears to be beating up on the mid-table teams and disappearing against the top ones. He had 2 big games against Everton and Newcastle, but it has been tough sledding otherwise. If he’s able to continue to beat up on everyone outside the top 6, he needs to be rostered and in your lineup.
46. Jan Paul van Hecke - DF - Tottenham Hotspur - 16.8 PPG
van Hecke is continuing his production from last year as he leads both leagues in IPs. If you drafted him around his ADP, you have to be happy with his performance so far this season.
47. Andrei Ratiu - DF - Rayo Vallecano - 16.7 PPG
Ratiu continues to be a solid, steady performer for Rayo Vallecano. He does most of his scoring via ICs and SCs, which gives him a steady floor and he is more involved in the offense than many DFs. Last year’s #1 La Liga DF is continuing his level of production and, similar to van Hecke, keeping his managers happy.
48. Nico Williams - FW - Athletic Club - 16.7 PPG
Nico Williams is here for one reason and one reason only - his 47 point explosion against Elche. Outside of that performance, he has been in and out of the squad and because of this, has not been as productive as expected. We had him 46th in the preseason and he is sitting 48th right now, but I would be happier with more consistent playing time and production.
49. Antoine Semenyo - FW - Manchester City - 16.7 PPG
A preseason Top 10 pick, Semenyo has actually performed in-line with expectations. He has averaged 17.5 PPG over the past 2 seasons and is currently sitting at 16.7. Hard to fault him just because some other guys started off a bit hotter. He’s a locked-in starter on Man City’s attack, and therefore an automatic start in your lineup every week.
50. Robert Navarro - MF - Athletic Club - 16.7 PPG
Navarro has played excellently on the right side of Athletic’s attack. He’s getting more minutes this season and producing at a strong clip as he is Top 50 in Goals, SoT, and SCs. Definitely a name to watch and roster if he keeps this up after the break.
